I really like this news article because a lot of people can relate to what chief executive Douglas Campbell says and I totally agree with him "high-priced runway styles and lavish décor because it's not what middle-class shoppers want to buy".That's why I chose to put this news article in my blog.

News Article Post

http://thenelsondaily.com/news-brief/ferrari-pulled-over-101-kmhour-above-posted-speed-limit
when I read the first paragraph of this article I wasn't very surprised I've heard multiple stories of people in fast cars speeding. What made me put this on my blog was the fact that there was a young child in the car. it was his choice to put his life at risk but it shouldn't be his choice to put someone else's life at risk especially a young child who doesn't have a choice.

The History of Doctor Assisted Suicide

Doctor assisted suicide goes back to the 5th century in ancient Greece and Rome before Christianity and was tolerated until the 12th century when Christianity with its view that human life is a trust from God. Doctor assisted suicide was viewed as wrong till the 17th century when writers challenged the authority of the church with regard to ethical matters, though there was no real wide spread interest during the time. An important milestone in the euthanasia debate was the isolation of morphine in the nineteenth century and its widespread use as an analgesic. In the early hours of 12 November 1915, at Chicago's German-American Hospital, Anna Bollinger gave birth to her fourth child, a seven-pound baby boy...the baby was blue and badly deformed. The head surgeon Harry J. Haiselden, advised against surgery and let the baby die. Those were a few of the first incidents that made people realize doctor assisted suicide was something that should be considered as an option for people. My information came from http://euthanasia.procon.org/view.timeline.php?timelineID=000022

My Novel Response

Recently I have been reading "In the woods"by Robin Stevenson and I'm supposed to write a post saying if the teenager in the book was believable.I think Cameron ,the main character, is believable because his reactions to the problems in the book seem like something a teenager would do.For instances in the end of the book he says that he wants to be apart of his sisters babies life even if she gets adopted and he only sends birthday cards once a year. I think that him wanting to be apart of the babies life even if it's only a small part is what  a lot of teenagers would do myself included. So I think that the teenager in this story is believable.

Respond to Ideas

Earlier this week ,I wrote a blog post about the movie "Miss Representation". This post is a follow up about my reaction to the film. After I watched this movie I was really surprised how much media puts down women and makes them something they're not. I knew that women were not treated the best and that media puts women down, but after I watched "Miss Representation" I realised it is a much bigger problem. Something needs to change so women are viewed as who they really are, not who the media says they are.

Miss Representation

This week in class we have been watching a movie called "Miss Representation" and I had to find examples of appeal to authority. The movie was about how women are viewed poorly in the media and are treated badly and are portrayed as something they are not. The definition of appeal to authority is that a statement is correct because the statement is made by an authority figure.
In "Miss Representation" they used appeal to authority by having experts talk about how women are treated. For instance Rachel Nicols was one of the experts that talk on "Miss Representation".

My Express yourself project

The New Generation Alliance
In the city of Superopolis crime is ever present and the only ones who can stop it are the New Generation Alliance, Superman,Super Granny and the Masked Magician. We join the NGAs in their super cave discussing super matters.
“RING RING” blares the superphone.
Superman jumps to the phone answering it. “Hello whats the emergency”
“Red Death is trying to take over the world”says a panicked voice.
“The NGAs are on the way”  Superman says.
The NGAs run to the super mobile and speed off to fight their arch nemesis Red Death.

The NGAs stand on a desolate parking lot waiting for evil to arise, suddenly Red Death jumps from the shadows.
“Ha the NGAs thats who they send to fight the most diabolical super villain in the world this shouldn't take to long MWAHAHAHA” Red Death Sneers.
“You just wait Red Death evil will never win”Superman bellows.
The NGAs spring into action. Superman rushes Red Death, they collide head on but Superman suddenly falls to the ground paralyzed as Red Death holds up an empty needle.
“Ha an easy victory is on the way’ He cackles.
Super Granny and the Masked Magician look at each other.
“Pathetic Red Death I thought a super evil villain would at least fight fair”Laughs Super Granny.
“ Apparently you don't know the meaning of evil” Red Death says with a smirk.
The Masked Magician and Super Granny rush at Red Death from both sides panic quickly crosses Red Deaths face before it's replaced with a smirk. Just before they reach Red Death he jumps out of the way making Super Granny and The Masked Magician collide.
“Ha to easy really to easy” He chuckles.
Then theres a flash of movement behind Red Death and he's knocked to the ground by a net.
“Easy indeed Red Death” Superman says.

The NGAs rested from the fight now decide what to do about Red Death.
‘He's just too dangerous to leave alive we have to destroy him” The Masked Magician bangs his fist on the table.
“I agree Masked Magician we need to end this once and for all” Super Granny sighs.
Superman nods his head in agreement.
In a dark room lays Red Deaths unconscious body, the NGAs walk in and drag him to the super mobile.

At the edge of Devil Ravine they lay Red Death. They all look at each other and nod but Red Death stirs.
‘ Where am I “ Red Death groans.
“ You're at the edge of devil ravine”Superman calmly says.
“What why’ Red Death mumbles confused.
“ Its time we ended this” The Masked Magician spits angrily.
“ NO NO YOU CAN’T’ Red Death shrieks.
“ Goodbye red death forever” Super Granny says.
They push Red Death off the cliff.
“NOOOOOOOO!” Red Death screams.
A soft thud is heard the NGAs turn and walk away. The NGAs return to the super cave to await the next time they are called to action.

Should marijuana be legalized

Should marijuana be legal

Marijuana is a well known drug and is used by many people. Marijuana is legal in  someplaces like Cambodia, North Korea and is legal on a state level in a few states in USA but why not everywhere. My big question is should marijuana be legal everywhere. As with everything there are pros and cons, supporters and and haters and i'm going to write some of the pros and cons.

Yes marijuana should be legal

Marijuana isn’t a drug that is full of chemicals so it isn't as harmful as say alcohol or cigarettes and can be used medically. If it were legal and sold in stores less kids would be able to start using it while underage.Legalizing marijuana gives people a little more sense of freedom because they can choose to use it or not without having to worry about breaking the law.Even if marijuana isn’t legal people can still get it but the prices are very high and people will start to get poorer and poorer and not be able to buy the necessities.marijuana is not very dangerous more people die from obesity and the government can’t make a law on how much you eat so why make something illegal when it isn’t harming many people. If marijuana were legal the police would be sent out less on drug busts and they could do something more worthwhile.Marijuana could be used for medical purposes such as a pain reliever and can help with many illnesses.the government could make a lot of money if they legalized marijuana selling it alone would make money and if you taxed it a lot more money would be made. those are just some of the reasons people think marijuana should be legalized.

Marijuana should not be legalized

People often use marijuana as a stepping stone drug that leads them into more harmful drugs like heroin and cocaine.People could drive while under the influence and they could do other dangerous things. Some people just consider doing drugs morally wrong and could protest or riots. The legalization of marijuana could lead to legalization of more dangerous drugs or drugs all together.People who abuse the drug can have more access to it and can be physically harmed.People who use the drug for medical purposes can become addicted and abuse the drug.People who use the drug can become violent and parents can become addicted and neglect their children. The easy access can make more customers who might become addicted Legalizing marijuana will send the message to kids that doing drugs is ok and is not a problem.Instead of facing their problems people could resort to doing drugs thinking there problems will go away and when they don’t they just use it more and more. People who use it might not be able to stop and they will use it more the rest of their lives  and will start to get unhealthy .Smoking too much marijuana can lead to brain damage and even the people who don’t use it could get affected by secondhand smoke.
